  ”A TASTE OF BALDWINSVILLE” 2012

 

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us at our 2012 major fundraiser “A Taste of Baldwinsville” on May 19th!  Nearly 350 people enjoyed an evening of delicious “tastings” provided by sixteen area restaurants and food vendors serving up pizza, wings, Thai dishes, specialty sandwiches, appetizers, granola, cheesecakes and cupcakes.   Anheuser-Busch beverages, a variety of wine from Swedish Hill and also iced tea and iced coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts and soda donated by Coca-Cola helped to quench everyone’s thirst!

 

The event was held again at the Central New York Family Sports Centre on Jones Road which is the perfect venue for an event this size.  New this year was the sound of  tunes playing all night from DJ Platinum G – Rachel Grage which served as a nice backdrop while attendees enjoyed eating, drinking and bidding on the wide array of auction items.

 

Our panel of celebrity judges this year were Pete Ramim, owner of the Silver Knights and CNYFSC; Jon Ramin, General Manager of the Silver Knights; Tommy Tanner, head coach of the Silver Knights; Danny Hall and Slavisa Ubiparipov, both players on the Silver Knights team.

 

And the winners of the Judges’ Choice awards went to:  Best Presentation/Plate: Sammy Malone’s; Best Table/Booth: Hometown Pizza; Best Appetizer: Appethaizing Thai Restaurant; Best Sandwich: Sammy Malone’s; Best Pizza: Pizza Man; Best House Specialty: Appethaizing Thai Restaurant; Best Chicken Wings: Sal’s Pizzeria and Best Dessert: Sweet Rebecca’s Cupcakes.

 

The People’s Choice Awards went to:  Best Appetizer: Yummies Cheesecakes; Best Sandwich: Sammy Malone’s; Best Pizza: Pizza Man; Best House Specialty: Appethaizing Thai Restaurant; Best Wings: Quaker Steak & Lube and Best Dessert: Tabatha’s Family Tree.

The 2011 “A Taste of Baldwinsville” fundraising event was enjoyed by a little over 500 people on Saturday night, March 5th at the CNY Family Sports Centre.   The evening was filled with great food from 14 area restaurants, an assortment of Anheuser-Busch beverages and wine from Swedish Hill Winery.  Attendees were entertained throughout the evening by Foolsbrew with John Thayer. The auctioneer for the live auction portion was Bernie Brzostek and there was a wide array of items to bid on in the silent auction.

Judging the many “tastes” supplied by 14 of our area restaurants this year were teachers from the Baldwinsville Central School District:  Mike Scuderi & Jason Glashauser from Baker; Julie Sennett from Reynolds; Deb Mosher from Durgee and Katie Reap from Van Buren.  Attendees were also able to vote for their favorite “tastes” for the People’s Choice awards.
